During an interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers, 300 actor shared how he ended up rubbing his face with acid. During the shooting of a key sequel for the movie Plane, Butler accidentally rubbed his face with acid.
“No matter what I’m doing, I manage to hurt myself. Trying to find something that’s wrong with the plane before we can take off for this final sequence.

It’s something in the wheel, so it’s a brake. Now, I’m sticking my hand between these two wheels, kind of pretending that I know what I’m doing in there, you know? Every time I bring my hands out, they’re covered in blood and green fluid, right?

And I’m like, ‘I don’t know what this green fluid is’. Now I’m sticking my hand between these two wheels, kind of pretending that I know what I’m doing. Every time I bring my hands out, they’re covered in blood and green fluid, right? And I’m like, ‘I don’t know what this green fluid is’.”

The Ugly Truth star went ahead admitting that he is ‘naturally clumsy’. The actor mentioned how the heat of Puerto Rico aided in worsening the situation by covering the Last Seen Alive actor in sweat and how he was wiping his face with acid over and over. The actor recalled wiping his face unintentionally and transferring the acid to his face.

“I’m rubbing my face and, suddenly, it’s in my throat. It’s in my mouth. It’s up my nose. It’s in my eyes. It’s burning my face and I mean burning. It turns out that this is essentially phosphoric acid. The airline pilots that were there watching go, ‘No!’. So, I’m just like burning alive. It was intense, and it actually burned for hours, but it was great for the scene.”
