Lady Gaga recreates her own halftime show look while attending Super Bowl

Gaga sat in the stands at Allegiant Stadium wearing eye makeup similar to the look she wore for her 2017 halftime show performance.

In 2024, Lady Gaga’s poker face will be televised — and bejeweled at the Super Bowl.

The Oscar-winning pop star and upcoming Joker: Folie á Deux actress attended Sunday’s matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers with her boyfriend, Michael Polansky, but she wasn’t just there to show support for the California-based team while wearing a 49ers jacket and jersey — she topped off the outfit with bejeweled makeup around her eyes that served as a tribute to a similar look she wore to perform during the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show.

Though the shape of the gems and accompanying eyeliner designs weren’t exactly the same as those Gaga wore to headline the show seven years ago, the 37-year-old’s makeup was a clear nod to the prior glistening ensemble, with both looks including red and white crystals lined around heavy black liner.

Makeup artist Sarah Tanno previously revealed that Gaga’s halftime show bodysuit, boots, and face were lined with Swarovski crystals, with Marc Jacobs makeup on her face.

“I wanted her to be able to look at this 10 years from now and have it feel timeless,” Tanno told USA Today at the time, after Gaga’s halftime show set became one of the most-watched in the event’s history as it pulled in 117.5 million viewers.

In addition to performing at the 2017 halftime show, Gaga kicked off the 2016 Super Bowl by singing the national anthem.

Beyond posting a photo of herself flashing a peace sign toward the field before the game (alongside the caption “lets f—ing go”), the singer-songwriter also shared a brief message of support for 2024 halftime headliner Usher. Gaga posted a photo of the pop star’s stage with a few heart emojis next to her peer’s name on her Instagram Story.

Gaga and Polansky watched the 2024 Super Bowl from midfield seats at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, among a large roster of other celebrities including Gwen Stefani, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeff Goldblum, Justin Bieber, Jay-Z, and Beyoncé, who watched the show amid releasing a surprise two-song preview of the upcoming second act of her Renaissance era.

Taylor Swift also attended the game to show support for her boyfriend, Chiefs player Travis Kelce. The pop star watched alongside friends Lana Del Rey, Blake Lively, and Ice Spice, as Kelce and his team won the high-profile showdown in overtime.
