The Born This Way star pointed the finger at complicated schedules and the rollercoaster nature of their love as the cause of issues in their five-year relationship.
Pouring out her heartbreak onto her Instagram page alongside a cute snap of the couple she wrote: “Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates.
“Just like all couples we have ups and downs and we have been taking a break.
“We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared.”
Gaga ended the message with a special appeal to her fans and added: “Please root us on.
“We’re just like everyone else and we really love each other.”
