Ritchson’s star, of course, has risen considerably with his role as former military police officer-turned-lone wolf crime solver Jack Reacher in the Prime Video series Reacher, which began in 2022.

According to Vogue, all three seasons of the sitcom Blue Mountain State will join the streamer on May 1. The sports comedy, which originally aired on Spike TV from 2010-2011, chronicles the rowdy hijinks of the players from the fictional Blue Mountain State college football team.

Blue Mountain State previously was available on Netflix before but left the streaming platform in 2019, What’s On Netflix noted.

In Blue Mountain State, Ritchson stars as Kevin “Thad” Castle, a senior linebacker on the university’s team the Mountain Goats. The series also stars Darin Brooks as quarterback Alex Moran and Chris Romano as Sammy Cacciatore, who dresses as the team’s mascot Billy the Mountain Goat.

Former NFL running back-turned actor Ed Marinaro (Hill Street Blues) also stars in Blue Mountain State as the team’s head coach Marty Daniels. Several notable sports figures made cameo appearances though the series’ 39 episodes, including NFL coaching great Bill Parcells and star quarterback Boomer Esiason.

More ‘Blue Mountain State’ May Be On The Way

While it’s been eight years since Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland, Thad Castle may not be in Alan Ritchson’s rearview mirror just yet. According to Deadline, a Blue Mountain State sequel series is being shopped around Hollywood with Ritchson, Darin Brooks and Chris Romano on board for the project.

Deadline said that Prime Video and Netflix were among the streamers looking at the Blue Mountain State sequel series.

Ritchson is currently riding on the success of Reacher by appearing in more feature films. In between the first two seasons of Reacher, Ritchson played a supporting role in Vin Diesel’s Fast and Furious sequel Fast X in the summer of 2023. Then, in February of 2024, Ritchson played a lead role opposite Hilary Swank in the faith-based movie Ordinary Angels.

Over the weekend, Ritchson returned to the big screen in the action-adventure movie The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, a film loosely based on a recently declassified mission by a band of British military operatives during World War II. Ritchson stars opposite Henry Cavill and Eiza González in the film, which is directed by Guy Ritchie.

Ritchson is currently working on the upcoming third season of Reacher for Prime Video.
