SUMMARY

Alan Ritchson has a major update on Reacher season 3, nearing completion of a seemingly quick production cycle.
The show follows Reacher investigating conspiracies, aligning with teammates, and taking down enemies.
Season 3 was approved before season 2’s premiere, allowing for a quicker development cycle between the two.

Alan Ritchson has a major update about Reacher season 3. Based on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher books, the show follows Ritchson’s titular character as he investigates conspiracies, aligns himself with old and new teammates each season, and takes down his enemies with relative ease. The show has already adapted Child’s Killing Floor and Bad Luck and Trouble, with the next season promising to adapt Persuader.

Even while season 2 was enjoying weekly releases, Ritchson was hard at work developing Reacher season 3. In fact, during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote his faith-based drama Ordinary Angels, Ritchson offered a major filming update on the next season of the Prime Video show.

To cheers from the crowd, the star announced that “We’re nearing completion of season 3.

When Will Reacher Season 3 Be Released?

With Reacher season 3 filming nearing its conclusion, the next season shouldn’t be too far away. The upcoming episodes will be introducing a new cast of characters, new settings, and new enemies to cut down. To support the ever-changing on-set environment, preparations began early. Season 3 was already underway in December 2023, which could mean a 2024 release.

The best way to see when the next season will air is by considering previous season scheduling timelines. Season 2, for instance, started filming in September 2022 and was eventually released in December 2023.

Unfortunately, that timeline may have been slightly marred, compared to season 3. The SAG-AFTRA strike began during post-production, meaning that every reshoot or ADR addition needed to wait until after the strike ended.

The SAG-AFTRA strike began on July 14, 2023 and concluded on November 9. Its sister strike conducted by the WGA began on May 2 the same year and concluded on September 27.

With that in mind, it is worth considering season 1 instead. Filming officially ended on July 30, 2021, and it was released in February 2022.

With such a relatively quick turnaround time for a previous season, Reacher season 3 could be released by the end of the summer. It is more likely, however, that Prime Video chooses to delay the release until the holiday season. A late 2024 release would best suit the show and help it build off of season 2’s success.
