In an exclusive interview with MovieWeb, Reacher star Alan Ritchson reveals that he too is a “lone wolf” much like the nomad avenger he plays in the hit Prime Video action series. Speaking with us about his new movie, Ordinary Angels, Ritchson, whose star has seen a rapid rise since playing Jack Reacher, revealed how he relates to the action hero and his latest character, struggling father Ed.

“Look, I’m a lone wolf. Like, I work with a psychiatrist, a therapist, and we meet every week or two. And the biggest theme in our conversations is her saying, ‘Your life would be much more fulfilling if you let other people in and had friends and did activities with other people.’ And I’m like, I don’t know, I don’t have the time. I can’t, there’s a million reasons why I can’t. And so, it’s a big mission in my life right now to find a way to expand my community.”

Based on a remarkable true story, Ordinary Angels centers on Sharon (Hilary Swank), a fierce but struggling hairdresser in small-town Kentucky who discovers a renewed sense of purpose when she meets Ed (Alan Ritchson), a widower working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters,” the official synopsis reads.

“With his youngest daughter waiting for a liver transplant, Sharon sets her mind to helping the family and will move mountains to do it. What unfolds is the inspiring tale of faith, everyday miracles, and ordinary angels.

Continuing, Ritchson offered further insight into how he and his Ordinary Angels character are similar, and he cannot wait to tell this story of everyday miracle workers.

“So I totally get that about Ed. Ed was very much the same way, he’s a lone wolf and doesn’t have to ask for help. I can relate to that. But I also have three kids. I have three boys ages 11, nine, and eight. Similar ages with these girls in the film, and the thought of losing one, I mean, I couldn’t imagine.

So, it’s a privilege to tell this story. One that that definitely delves into the pain of loss like that and the confusion of faith and doubt. But at the end of the day, the real miracle is the way that Hilary Swank’s character, Sharon, was able to work miracles in the life of Ed and these girls. And that’s just this necessary story. I think we all need to be reminded that we have that kind of potential within us.”

Ordinary Angels is scheduled to be released by Lionsgate on February 23, 2024.

Alan Ritchson will return as the ultimate loner Jack Reacher in Reacher season 3. Based on the seventh book by Lee Child, Persuader, season 3 will see Alan Ritchson’s action hero going undercover to rescue an informant while facing a haunting foe from his past.

Beginning in 2022, the first season of Reacher introduces Ritchson as the title character, a former U.S. Army Military Police Major now living as a nomad who suddenly finds himself dragged back into action when he is arrested for murder.

The second season, which is based on the 11th book in author Lee Child’s renowned series of novels, picks up with the titular character who, after members of his old military unit start turning up dead, has just one thing on his mind: revenge.

The third season of Reacher is currently filming, with Ritchson revealing our first look at the series via a grubby image of himself.
