Production is underway for season 3 of Reacher. Fans are eagerly anticipating its return after the runaway success of Season 2, which finished streaming on Prime Video in January 2024. The 110th Special Investigations Unit was a massive part of Season 2, as it saw Reacher re-team with some of his former cohorts to investigate the murder of other members of the unit.

It has been confirmed that Reacher season 3 will not feature a 110th centered plot, but Amazon have hinted that they might have plans to bring them back at some point in the future.

Reacher‘s upcoming third season will be based on Lee Child’s seventh book, Persuader. Audiences know that it will see the return of Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher. Though the plot will not center around the 110th unit, it will at least feature one other member, as Maria Sten has been confirmed to reprise her role of Frances Neagley in the third run.

Will the 110th Special Investigators Return to Reacher?

One of the major aspects of Reacher‘s second season was the involvement of the former members of the 110th Special Investigators, as they hunted down the villain, Shane Langston. Reacher himself was the leader of the team. When fellow member Calvin Franz was murdered, Frances Neagley, Karla Dixon, and David O’Donnell all joined forces to solve the case.

Frances Neagley has appeared in both seasons of Reacher, and she will return in Season 3 to assist Reacher with a brand-new investigation. However, there has been no official word on whether the other members of the 110th will return.

Reacher largely stuck to the books in the first two seasons, without much deviation from the source material. This raises questions about the return of the 110th, as they don’t feature in a large majority of the books.

Having said that, Neagley doesn’t feature in Persuader, but she will be a part of the television adaptation of that book. Amazon have also shown a willingness to veer from the source material to incorporate popular characters from previous seasons. For example, Oscar Findlay made a return in Season 2, despite not featuring in Bad Luck and Trouble, which served as the basis for the show’s sophomore season.

How long will Reacher go on for?

The possibility of a return for the 110th increased after comments made by Alan Ritchson in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter:

I owe it to the audience to explore as many of these books as my body will allow, and I owe it to the people that took a shot on me when I was a huge risk for them. They have given me a real career.

It looks like Reacher will go on for as long as possible. There is plenty of source material to choose from, as Lee Child has written 28 novels in the series, with more to follow. However, if the 110th is to make a comeback, Amazon might have to make a few changes if they want to include them.

Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon and MGM Studios, is working closely with Ritchson on Reacher, and has also signed an extended production deal with the streaming giant. Salke told The Hollywood Reporter:

He’s got movies in the works with us, series ideas. It’s not about the volume but about picking a few really special things. We’ll have Alan as long as he will play Jack Reacher. No end in sight for that, hopefully that’s for a very, very, very long time.

What is the Latest News on Season 3 of Reacher?

Filming of Reacher ‘s third season is underway in Toronto, but there has been no official announcement on when it will debut on Prime Video.Persuader is the seventh Reacher book and the focus of season 3, which follows Reacher as he is enlisted to help bring down a powerful drug kingpin by infiltrating his operation. Elsewhere, Reacher is also tasked with rescuing an undercover DEA agent who is deep within the organization and is quickly losing his cover.

Season 3 has added a bunch of new cast members. Anthony Michael Hall will play a corrupt businessman named Zachary Beck, while Brian Tee has been cast to portray the villainous Quinn, who has a significant connection to Reacher’s tortured past.

Sonya Cassidy also joins season 3 as DEA agent Susan Duffy. Johnny Berthold will play Richard Beck, a college student whose attempted kidnapping is the big event that kicks off the season.

In addition to these cast announcements, Roberto Montesinos will play DEA agent Guillermo Villanueva. Steven Elliot will take on the role of rookie agent Daniel David Stewart.

More casting announcements are likely to happen as production progresses, and there might even be some surprise appearances in store for the audience when Season 3 is released on Prime Video. With any luck, members of the 110th Special Investigations Unit might even turn up to assist Reacher defeat his enemies in the upcoming season.
