Even since Oppenheimer was released, everyone wants to see more of Cillian Murphy.

“Who will play the next James Bond?” is a question that every fan of the spy thriller franchise has been wondering ever since Daniel Craig retired from playing the character.

So far, the actors who have played the British Secret Service agents are Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel.

After Craig was done with the franchise, many names came forward. Brosnan has shared his thoughts on who could play the 007 agent perfectly, and it’s none other than Cillian Murphy.

Even since Oppenheimer was released, everyone wants to see more of Cillian Murphy.

After all, Murphy went from playing pivotal supporting characters in most films to finally shouldering one of Christopher Nolan’s best directorials.

So it’s not surprising that Pierce Brosnan wants Cillian to play the next James Bond.

The Tomorrow Never Dies actor even shared the reason why he thinks the Batman Begins actor is a good choice.

As reported by Variety, during the Oscar Wilde Awards, Pierce Brosnan told BBC, “Cillian would do a magnificent job as James Bond on His Majesty’s Secret Service.”

Sadly, Cillian Murphy shattered Brosnan’s dream casting for James Bond by saying that the ship has sailed.

When the portal asked Cillian Murphy if he would play the 007 agent and about Pierce’s thoughts, the actor responded, “I’m a bit old for that. I will say I think that ship has sailed.”

Well, that’s sad to know. Murphy is an exceptional actor. So, age won’t matter if he agrees to be a part of the spy thriller franchise. After all, what matters is how you captivate your audience, and Cillian has the acting prowess to do the same.

Meanwhile, the names that have been rumoured to play James Bond so far are Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Regé-Jean Page.

But the makers have not confirmed anything yet. Furthermore, Cillian Murphy is nominated in the Best Actor Category for the 2024 Oscar Awards.

The actor impressed everyone with his excellent performance as Robert J Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. The movie and the actor’s fans hope he will receive an Academy Award this year.
