Former star and model Evgeniya Chernyshova revealed herself for the first time, telling her journey of denouncing “former Hollywood mogul” Harvey Weinstein – who raped her at a hotel in 2013.

The Hollywood Reporter page has just published an article about Evgeniya Chernyshova – who is known by the alias Jane Doe 1 – coming to light, publicly revealing her long journey to find justice.

On December 19, 2022, Evgeniya Chernyshova was driving to choose a Christmas tree near her home in Los Angeles (USA) when she received a text message that she had been waiting for for 5 years from her lawyer, Dave Ring.

“We have a verdict” – the message read.

The 43-year-old former star and model stopped her car in the middle of the road, turned on the warning lights and burst into tears.

Among the four women who accused producer Harvey Weinstein of rape and assault in Los Angeles, Evgeniya Chernyshova is the only case that caused the “former Hollywood boss” to receive a 16-year prison sentence for rape.

She was the first of 44 witnesses called by the prosecution to testify in court.

Beginning her journey of denunciation in 2017, Evgeniya Chernyshova hid herself under the alias Jane Doe 1.

“I’m tired of hiding. I want my life back. I’m Evgeniya Chernyshova. I was raped rape and this is my story” – Evgeniya Chernyshova said.

She used to be shy, hide her identity, and avoid things

Evgeniya Chernyshova was born in Siberia and began modeling at the age of 15.

Quickly gaining attention, she performed around the world. In the end, she chose to settle in Italy, get married and take on some small roles as an actress.

During the week of the 2013 Academy Awards, she met Harvey Weinstein.

When she returned to the hotel alone, she received a call from the receptionist saying there was a guest who wanted to talk to her. She refused and agreed to talk in the morning.

However, then there was a knock on the hotel room door and the sound of Harvey Weinstein shouting outside.

She opened the door with the intention of making it clear that she had a husband and children so that the producer would stop causing trouble, but this was something she regretted for 10 years.

After being raped, she was depressed, separated from her husband and suffered psychological pain with irreparable injuries.

She always feels guilty, blaming herself for the tragedy of her life.

In 2017, chatting with her daughter Maria, then 16 years old, she revealed that she had been raped and gradually changed her mind, determined to bring the perpetrator to court. “Now I feel free, the burden has been lifted.

I look forward to good sleep” – Evgeniya Chernyshova confided.

She changed jobs after being raped and is currently in the flower business. She and her daughter hope to establish a fund to support victims of rape.

Harvey Weinstein is now 70 years old and is still serving a 23-year prison sentence in New York before receiving a new sentence. 

If he fails to appeal the sentence, the “former Hollywood boss” is likely to spend the rest of his life in prison.
