The best tight end in the 2024 NFL draft is heading to Las Vegas as the Raiders used their 13th overall pick to select Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers.

Bowers was not in Detroit on Thursday, so he opted to stay home and celebrate his accomplishments with his family. That turned out to be a great decision for everybody who tuned in.

Following the announcement that the Raiders had selected the tight end, ESPN went live to Brock Bowers home in Fairfield, California.

Bowers’ mom could be seen smiling, but the camera also caught his father to his right, not looking very amused.

This is how social media reacted to his parents:

Although not many anticipated that Brock Bowers would play for the Las Vegas Raiders, the team surprised everyone when they selected the Georgia tight end with the 13th overall choice. Despite not having a need at tight end, Las Vegas selected him because he was the best player available.

Bowers is very familiar with the franchise since he is from Napa, California, where the Raiders held training camp until 2020. Bowers previously attended a training camp for the team and revealed he got an autograph from former quarterback Derek Carr that he thought “was pretty sweet,” according to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur.

Brock Bowers is a force to be reckoned with. He was announced as the 2023 winner of the John Mackey Award, which was historic as he became the first player ever to win the award twice in his college career.

The John Mackey Award is given annually to the player voted as the best college tight end in the nation.

The Raiders drafting him means they are getting a guy who, despite missing three games this past year, put up 56 receptions for 714 yards and six touchdowns. When he won the award last year, he played in fifteen games, posting 63 receptions for 942 yards and seven touchdowns, via sportsreference.com.
