Frank Gore Jr., the son of former NFL superstar running back Frank Gore, is taking his talents to upscale New York.
According to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, the Buffalo Bills have signed Frank Gore Jr. as an undrafted free agent. The 22-year-old Southern Miss star spent each of his four years with the Golden Eagles program.
Gore Jr. joins a Buffalo running back room led by 2023 breakout star James Cook, Ray Davis, Darrynton Evans and veteran Ty Johnson. Gore’s old man spent the 2019 season with the Bills, rushing for 599 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 13 receptions for 100 yards.
Listed at 5-foot-8 and 195 pounds, Gore Jr. rushed for 1,131 yards and 10 touchdowns in his final year at Southern Miss. The year before, Gore Jr. rushed for a career-high 1,382 yards and nine touchdowns.
The elder Frank Gore sits third all-time in career rushing yards (16,000), behind only Emmitt Smith (18,355) and Walter Payton (16,726). Gore was a five-time Pro Bowler who led the San Francisco 49ers to three NFC Championship Games (2011, 2012 and 2014) and a Super Bowl 47 appearance.
Gore played for the 49ers from 2015 to 2014 before signing with the Indianapolis Colts in 2015. He spent three years there before joining the Miami Dolphins in 2018 free agency. After his one-year stint with the Bills, Gore went to the New York Jets for his swan song year in 2020.
Frank Gore Jr. Is One Of Many Second-Generation 2024 Rookies
The 2024 rookie class is loaded with players who are the sons of former NFL legends.
Aside from Frank Gore Jr., Marvin Harrison Jr. (son of Marvin Harrison), Luke McCaffrey (son of Ed McCaffrey), Joe Alt (son of John Alt), Jonah Elliss (son of Luther Ellis) Brenden Rice (son of Jerry Rice) and Terique Owens (son of Terrell Owens) are among the notable second-generation players in the 2024 class.
