General manager Ryan Poles knew the Chicago Bears were going to draft Caleb Williams. Everybody in the country knew who they were taking.

However, as we all tuned in to watch the NFL Draft on Thursday night, the 10-minute time clock was still counting down for some odd reason.

We are now finding out why, as a video has since surfaced showing the awkward moment Ryan Poles called Caleb Williams and informed him that the NFL told them they needed to wait at least five minutes before they sent in the pick.

“Hello.” “Hello?” “Who’s this?” “Who’s this?”

“They told me to hold it for 5 minutes. I told everyone I’ve been holding for a month.”

“This day is going to go down as an iconic day in Bears history, my friend.”

“This is going to be special. These fans are going to love you. And you’re going to love them. And we are going to win a lot of championships together.”

The decision felt like a foregone conclusion for months. Honestly, no matter what team landed in that spot, they were for sure taking Caleb Williams, who is looked at as a generational type player at the quarterback position.

Williams knows full well that Chicago has long been waiting for a franchise quarterback to take the Bears to the promised land.

For years, the organization has brought in a number of players, like Mitchell Trubisky, Jay Cutler, Rex Grossman, and Justin Fields, in an attempt to reverse its course, but they have all ultimately failed.

Williams is supposed to be the one to bring about all of those changes. He possesses the necessary abilities, grit, and playmakers to pull it all off. In addition to having a statue made in his honor, Williams will be awarded the keys to the entire city if he fulfills his potential, shatters Bears records, and—most importantly—helps the team win a Super Bowl.

The Chicago Bears jumpstarted a new era with the selection of USC quarterback Caleb Williams at No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL draft.

Williams is coming into one of the best situations for a No. 1 quarterback as he has an arsenal of weapons, including DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, D’Andre Swift, and fellow rookie Rome Odunze.
