New Baltimore Ravens cornerback Nate Wiggins wasn’t in the best position when he got that all-important call from the team on Thursday night.

The Ravens selected Wiggins as the 30th overall pick on the night. Speaking to reporters after getting drafted, he admitted he was in the bathroom while the team was calling to let him know they were taking him.

Actually, when they called me I was in the bathroom,” Wiggins said, revealing that he was angry because his phone hadn’t rung.

Explains why his pants were damn near off,” a fan commented.

Dabo Swiney Begged The Ravens To Pick Nate Wiggins

Nate Wiggins spent three seasons with the Clemson Tigers, finishing last season with 28 total tackles, six pass breakups, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one sack. He is expected to see some reps as a rookie.

Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta revealed Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was begging them to draft Wiggins.

We were getting texts from the head coach,” DeCosta told reporters after the draft, per CBS Sports. “Dabo was texting us during the first round (saying), ‘Please take this guy.‘”

The GM admitted he thought the player would be gone by the time the Ravens got on the board.

Honestly, I didn’t think that Nate would be there for us,” he added. “We thought there might be a chance, and then you start to see the run on corners in the 20’s. You start to get antsy. The phone was ringing, we had a lot of different potential trade possibilities. But for us, it was always, ‘If Nate is there, we are going to pick.’

The Ravens have been great at building via the draft and will look to continue in such a vein after their AFC Championship Game disappointment earlier this year. Time will tell whether Wiggins will be a part of that tradition.
