Unfortunately for Josh Giddey, he is unlikely to live down the situation he went through earlier this year.
Josh Giddey and the Oklahoma City Thunder were in New Orleans on Monday for Game 4 of their series against the Pelicans. The number one seed quickly swept the Pelicans and moved on to the second round.
Giddey had a decent series, but it looks like he made his most noise off the court.
In a video that went viral, he was spotted hanging out with a woman near Tulane University when a heckler decided to point him out.
Unbeknownst to him, Giddey was spotted strolling around with a female friend. He captured the moment on camera and shared it on social media. As soon as he realized who the basketball player was, he began taunting the Thunder guard while questioning the age of the young lady he was with.
The heckler can be seen repeatedly pointing at the NBA player and asking his female partner, “Is she of age?”
No word on exactly when the encounter took place, as fact checkers on X have pointed out that the incident couldn’t have taken place following their game 4 win because Giddy flew home with his teammates immediately following their series sweep.
Giddey and the Oklahoma City Thunder played so well during the series that the fan base couldn’t wait until the next home game to cheer them on, as many of them came out to the airport as they walked off their Delta flight.
Josh Giddey Was Under investigation For Allegedly Talking To An Underaged Girl
The NBA was reportedly investigating reports that Josh Giddey had an “inappropriate relationship with a minor,” according to information released by TMZ Sports in late November.
Giddey and a minor girl in California were allegedly involved in an inappropriate connection. The Newport Beach Police Department declared in January that it had concluded its investigation into the matter.
Giddey won’t be prosecuted in California, where consent is legally 18 years old
“After a thorough and exhaustive examination, we have completed our investigation into information that was circulating on social media involving Josh Giddey,” the NBPD statement read via Oklahoman.com.
“Our detectives have reviewed all of the available information and were unable to corroborate any criminal activity related to Mr. Giddey. The Newport Beach Police Department is committed to ensuring that accurate information is disseminated to the public while also ensuring the rights of all those involved.”
