One of 2Pac‘s former collaborators has excited fans with news of a potential new album, nearly three decades after the legendary rapper’s death.

On Thursday (July 13), DJ Daryl — the producer and co-writer behind ‘Pac’s 1993 hit single “Keep Ya Head Up” — took to his Instagram Stories to hint at a new project from the late rap icon. The Oakland, California native also announced he’s signed a new record deal.

“I’ve had unreleased Tupac vocals in my vault for a long time,” he wrote. “Who’s ready to hear a new Tupac album or EP produced by me?”

Earlier this year, news broke that 2Pac’s estate was gearing up to release four previously unreleased tracks from the late rapper as part of a Greatest Hits album.

The statement, which came via 2Pac’s “only official fan page” on Instagram, shared that the album “will consist of previously released recordings from the ‘2Pacalypse Now’ period to Pac’s ‘Thug Life’ period with 4 previously unreleased pre-Death Row tracks.”

In a podcast interview late last year, 2Pac’s associate E-Love — who contributed to “Changes,” “Ghetto Gospel,” “Papa’z Song” and “Point The Finga,” the latter two coming from ‘Pac’s sophomore studio album Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. — confirmed that unreleased Battlecat-produced songs have been sitting in a vault and were slated to be released sometime in 2023.

“Bob did more songs with him than I did,” E-Love said on the I Only Touch Greatness podcast. “I did two to three songs. Actually, two songs are coming out next year. Bob did a string of songs that still have not yet come out.”

2Pac's Stepfather Mutulu Shakur Reportedly Passes Away

2PAC’S STEPFATHER MUTULU SHAKUR REPORTEDLY PASSES AWAY

In 2018, the Shakur Estate settled a five-year-old lawsuit with Death Row Records over royalties owed to the late rapper. In addition to financial compensation, reports claimed a batch of unreleased music was handed over, and plans to release two albums were discussed.

Meanwhile, the topic of 2Pac’s 1996 death has continued to make headlines in recent years, with theories and conspiracies regarding the nature (and validity) of his death running rampant. In 2019, Suge Knight Jr. took to social media to elaborate on his claim that 2Pac was still alive, insisting that the Hip Hop luminary was even making new music.

“I GOT PAC BACK IN THE STUDIO. NEW MUSIC COMING,” he wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. “This ain’t a joke. @NewDeathRow??/?? Coming soon.”

While numerous people questioned Knight’s mental state, others were convinced his posts were just a convoluted way of plugging the unreleased music the Tupac Shakur Estate has in the vault.
