Having won a series of beauty contests, Priyanka Chopra Jonas was directly eliminated from two movies by the producers because of her strange face after surgery.

In her newly released memoir, Chopra Jonas recounted the details of her journey to fame. She was crowned Miss India World in January 2000 at the age of 17 and won the Miss World title later that year.

After success at the Miss pageant, Chopra Jonas started her acting career in India. More than a decade later, she had her breakthrough in the US when she took on the lead role in the ABC series ‘Quantico’. The film marks the first time a South Asian actor has played the lead role in an American network television show.

Of course, she did not forget to mention the nose surgery that stopped her career: “Incomplete. I feel devastated and hopeless.” Before her career in entertainment took off, Chopra Jonas discovered a benign tumor in her nasal cavity in the summer of 2001.

She felt cold in her hands and feet and had difficulty breathing, so the doctor advised her to have surgery to remove the tumor. “Fortunately, polyp removal surgery seems to be just a routine procedure. But unfortunately, it is not that simple” – the actress wrote in her memoir.

The doctor accidentally scraped the bridge of her nose, causing her nose bridge to collapse. At the end of the surgery, she and her family were ‘horrified’ when they saw the results. “My original nose was gone” – Chopra Jonas recalls –

“My face looks completely different. I’m not me. Every time I look in the mirror, a stranger looks back at me. I don’t think I can recover from this shock.” Chopra became more and more depressed by the shock. public scrutiny and false rumors spread.

At the same time, her promising acting career fell apart. Producers heard that she looked so different after the surgery that they had to drop her from two out of four contracted films.

“The physical and mental pain that the surgery brought was not enough. This was a terrible blow. My career, a career that relied too much on my appearance, seemed to have ended before I knew it. it really begins” – Chopra Jonas wrote, further explaining that those were her first films.

Chopra’s role in the Hindi film ‘Hero: A Spy’s Love Story’ was also reduced to a supporting role. Her actual debut film was her fourth project (of the original contracts) – which was a Tamil film titled ‘Thamizhan’.

Regarding the nose, it has gradually healed over time and become more beautiful thanks to the effects of several corrective surgeries. “I have gotten used to this face” – she said – “Now when I look in the mirror, I am no longer surprised. I have made peace with my slightly different self.”
