The Avengers may be the epitome of noble heroism, but they too have limits to their patience.

Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool isn't the Only Mutant the Avengers Despise - 5 X-Men Even the Earth's Mightiest Heroes Had Trouble Dealing With

There is a long-standing, complex history between the Avengers and the X-Men. The Avengers may be the Earth’s mightiest heroes, the emblem of heroism and valiance, but there are some within the vastness of the Marvel universe that they usually cannot put up with. Apart from the blatantly villainous characters they are tasked to fight, they occasionally don’t see eye to eye with former and current allies, anti-heroes like Deadpool, and some from the fraternity of X-Men.

Some characters (including the X-Men) that the Avengers cannot stand

Some mutants that The Avengers despise

These can sometimes be the mutants who worked alongside the Earth’s mightiest to defeat a greater evil. However, their differing dispositions or personalities can sometimes clash and make it difficult for some of our favorite Avengers to put up with them. Besides Deadpool (who is a different case altogether), the following are some of the X-Men that the acclaimed superhero ensemble would rather not have to deal with.

1. Quicksilver

Quicksilver

Quicksilver

Most frequently, Quicksilver appears in association with the X-Men. The speedster, who was first a foe of the mutant ensemble before becoming a superhero and even a member of The Avengers, is frequently too much for the latter team to handle. He was initially depicted as an abrasive antagonist. When he turned a hero, he retained his cocksure, arrogant tendencies.

His arrogance, impatience, and impulsivity have previously annoyed a few of the Avengers. He will always be a part of the team, but that doesn’t mean his smug attitude doesn’t irk some of his teammates.

2. Namor

Namor

Namor has forged deep, long-lasting associations with many of the X-Men characters. In the comics, he has frequently fought alongside or been a part of the Avengers, Defenders, X-Men, and Illuminati.

Over the years, he has alternately been the Avengers’ ally and adversary. Namor’s loyalty lies with Atlantis. He has a reputation for prioritizing the concerns of his people over those of the entire world. Above all, in the face of most superhero alliances, the human-mutant and Atlantean hybrid is his own man.

He frequently sees The Avengers as a representation of the actions of the surface world that put his people and their way of life at risk. Additionally, the Avengers have often been shown to dismiss Namor’s authority. The squad has relied on Namor’s powers in a few iterations, yet his pride regularly annoys some of our strongest heroes.

3. Cyclops

Cyclops

Cyclops

The X-Men and The Avengers have battled it out in several instances of the comic continuity, and Cyclops has taken the command many times during most of those encounters. The mutant ensemble opposes the other team’s blatant hypocrisy because they have often minimized or disregarded the predicament the mutants face. There have been times when Cyclops denounced the Avengers for this mindset.

He has called out the superhero team for their reactive heroism. He is also renowned for saying, “The X-Men aren’t the Avengers. We don’t wait for the bodies to drop to suit up.” You can see why the Avengers wouldn’t get along with him.

4. Professor X

Professor X

The Illuminati’s controversial standing as a group led to many conflicts. Their hubristic actions backfired several times. Professor X’s affiliation with the Illuminati doesn’t improve his reputation among some of the Avengers. Moreover, with the Krakoa Era, Professor X’s superiority doesn’t sit well with the superhero squad. The X-Men’s ties with other heroes have been strained with the establishment of Krakoa.

These instances give the mightiest heroes various reasons to be wary of Charles Xavier.

5. Magneto

Magneto

Magneto

During the events of X-Men vs. Avengers (1987), The Avengers sought to capture Magneto, who was allied with the X-Men at the time, to put him before the World Court to answer for crimes against humanity. Due to this, the two teams are at odds with one another.

Magneto has also occasionally engaged in combat with prominent team members like Iron Man in the comics. It’s safe to say that the Earth’s mightiest heroes don’t view the uber-potent mutant to be a dependable, good-willed ally.

6. Deadpool

Deadpool

Deadpool cannot technically be considered an X-Men member, but that hasn’t stopped him from joining forces with the mutants in several comic-book storylines. The skilled mercenary-turned-anti-hero has encountered The Avengers many times. The Merc with a Mouth is renowned for its never-ending shenanigans and cheeky quips.

While some characters dislike him, the renowned superhero ensemble is mainly annoyed by the anti-hero’s irreverent comments and constant fanboying. He has frequently been pitted against Earth’s mightiest heroes due to his erratic, unfiltered demeanor. This, however, didn’t stop him from enjoying a momentary, honorary stint in the comics with the Avengers!
