Taylor Swift, BTS’s Jung Kook lead MTV EMAs nominations

Taylor Swift leads the MTV EMAs nominations with 7 categories. And Jung Kook leads among K-pop artists with 3 nominations, equal to boy band TXT.

The news was announced from the organizers of this year’s MTV EMAs (MTV Europe Music Awards or MTV Europe Music Awards). Accordingly, the award ceremony will take place in Paris, France on November 5.

After a brilliant year of success, female singer  Taylor Swift  topped the nomination list with 7 categories, including the most important categories such as Best Artist, Best Song and Best Video (all for Anti -Hero ).

Will Taylor Swift win big again?

In the Outstanding Artist category, Taylor Swift has a great chance of winning as she is active in all areas: albums, songs and world tours. Recently, singer Cruel Summer also won 9 awards at the MTV VMAs (MTV Video Music Awards) in the US.

According to ET, right behind Taylor Swift are colleagues Olivia Rodrigo and SZA, each with 6 nominations and all nominated in the 3 most important categories mentioned above.

Meanwhile, the artists who won many nominations are Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj,  Miley Cyrus  and Måneskin. They also received nominations for Best Song and Outstanding Artist.

All three categories of Best Artist, Best Song and Best Video gather the most shining names this year.

In the Outstanding Artist category, Taylor Swift will face Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj,  Olivia Rodrigo  and SZA. All are female artists, showing that 2023 is a year when women take the throne in music.

In the Best Song category, Swift’s Anti-Hero will face Paint The Town Red (Doja Cat), Seven (Jungkook ft. Latto), Flowers (Miley Cyrus), vampire (Olivia Rodrigo), Kill Bill (SZA) and Calm Down (Rema, Selena Gomez). These are all big hits of the year.

Jung Kook shines beyond K-pop

Besides familiar names, this year there are also 26 artists nominated for the first time.

Among them,  BTS’s Jung Kook  received his first nomination as a solo artist. In previous years, he was nominated and won many times at the EMAs as a member of BTS.

Specifically, Jung Kook was nominated for Best Song (for Seven ), Best K-pop Artist (Best K-pop) and Artist with the Largest Fan Community (Biggest Fans).

Thus, Jung Kook has a big nomination in the Best Song category, beyond the scope of K-pop.

In the Outstanding K-pop Artist category, he will compete with the groups FIFTY FIFTY, NewJeans, SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids and TXT.

Following the success of Seven , Jung Kook has just released  his second English solo single, 3D .

Fans expect 3D to achieve the same success as Seven when on October 3, 3D replaced Seven to rank first on the Spotify Global chart.

Recently, Jung Kook was ranked by The Hollywood Reporter as one of the 25 platinum music artists of 2023, alongside Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Drake, Miley Cyrus…

Besides the male singer, Korean group TXT also won 3 nominations for this year’s EMAs, including: Outstanding Group, Most Supported Artist and Outstanding K-pop Artist.

Two groups, NewJeans and SEVENTEEN, received 2 nominations each for Outstanding Group and Outstanding K-pop Artist.

Having had a year of great activity in Europe,  BlackPink  only won one nomination as the Artist with the Largest Fan Community.
