13-year-old Chiefs fan gifted free Super Bowl tickets by Patrick Mahomes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – One lucky child received a once-in-a-lifetime surprise with free tickets to the Super Bowl. That surprise came at the hands of their favorite quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Now that the Chiefs are headed to Vegas, that makes the surprise that much more special.

Variety KC was selected by the 15 and Mahomies Foundation to give these tickets to one of the children it serves.

“Only Patrick Mahomes could pull this off and to have this huge win so the first thing we thought of after we won was how excited we were for the family,” said Variety KC’s Chief Inclusion Officer Marc Harroll.

The organization helps children with special needs and disabilities by providing medical devices and equipment not covered by insurance. Issac Murdock was the lucky recipient.

“My boys literally started crashing onto the floor, screaming and yelling with excitement. They were just so thrilled that they were able to win and knew that we were gonna get to see them,” said Isaac’s father Ryan Murdock.

When Isaac Murdock’s family received free tickets to the Super Bowl in December, they only hoped they would see the Chiefs play. Now that hope is reality.

“I mean he follows along with how the Chiefs play, you know, he’ll tell you about the players. He’ll tell you about how they play. Ups and downs of the season,” said Murdock.

Ryan explains how the 13-year-old has gone through his own ups and downs. His son Isaac is paralyzed from the waist down and has been in a wheelchair his entire life due to a spinal condition. However, this didn’t stop him from being an athlete.

“Issac’s a member of the Kansas City King’s Wheelchair Basketball team. They’re one of the largest and probably most successful wheelchair teams in the entire country,” said Murdock.

Isaac’s wheelchair basketball team won a National Championship. On Feb. 11, he’ll get a front seat to witness his favorite team defend its title as Super Bowl Champions. This once in a lifetime experience, all thanks to his favorite quarterback.

“We’re partial obviously to Mahomes but I think the amount of philanthropy and good will they do for the community is absolutely amazing and obviously we are incredibly thankful,” said Murdock.
