Last year, Britney Spears told her fans she was done with the music industry and never plans to perform again. “Right now, management and A&R are trying to get her excited for the music,” an insider told Rolling Stone. “As of right now, she’s not actively in recording but they’re getting [songs] done to present to her.”

This comes after various outlets reported that Britney is making plans for her first album in eight years. The U.S. Sun claims Spears is collaborating with British musician Charli XCX to write song lyrics, though the publication notes they’ve yet to meet in person.

“She is known as one of the biggest pop stars of the 21st century so there is pressure for the music to be great,” they went on. “Charli has a great track record when it comes to writing clever pop songs. She went into the studio earlier in the year to make some songs using Britney’s guidance of what she is after.”
