The Kansas City Chiefs will play the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 18 of the regular season. No matter the game’s result, the Chiefs are locked into the No. 3 seed in the AFC, which grants them home-field advantage in the Wild Card round. Because of this, head coach Andy Reid said that quarterback Patrick Mahomes and other starters will rest for the regular season finale.

Kansas City notched yet another AFC West division title this season despite having a down year and being 10-6 heading into Week 18. Mahomes will end the regular season playing in 16 games and passing for 4,183 yards with 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Veteran quarterback Blaine Gabbert will take over under center. His last start game was in 2018, when he started three games for the Tennessee Titans.

We will likely get more information over the next few days about who to expect will be sidelined. Travis Kelce, Isiah Pacheco and Rashee Rice will likely all get the game off for the offense. If that’s true, Kelce will miss out on 1,000 receiving yards, ending a seven-year streak.
