In an unexpected twist, Jackson Mahomes, the brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has seen felony charges stemming from a February 2023 incident dismissed. The charges, which accused Mahomes of forcibly kissing a woman against her will, were dropped due to the alleged victim’s lack of cooperation.

Initially facing three counts of aggravated sexual battery, the dismissal followed a motion filed by Johnson County Assistant District Attorney Megan Ahsens. Jackson Mahomes’ attorney, Brandan Davies, maintained his client’s innocence, stating, “[Jackson Mahomes] has done nothing wrong.”

While the more serious charges have been dropped, Mahomes still contends with a misdemeanor battery charge, to which he pleaded not guilty. This charge relates to an incident involving the alleged shoving of a waiter, despite the victim refusing to testify.

The initial episode transpired in late February at Aspen’s Restaurant and Lounge in Overland Park, near Kansas City, shortly after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory. The 23-year-old social media influencer reportedly assaulted a waiter and forcibly kissed Aspen Vaughn, the stepdaughter of the restaurant owner.

Following the incident, Aspen’s Restaurant and Lounge closed its doors, citing the negative publicity. Vaughn expressed safety concerns, shedding light on the challenges victims face when coming forward.

Prior to the misconduct allegations, Jackson Mahomes had already faced criticism for his sideline antics, especially on social media platforms like TikTok. The dismissal of the more severe charges has stirred additional controversy, with fans speculating on potential foul play or suggesting financial settlements. However, as of now, there is no concrete evidence supporting these claims, and the ultimate resolution hinges on the pending misdemeanor charge involving the waiter.
