“Patrick Mahomes, Quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, Holds the Top-Selling NFL Jersey in Canada for 2023”

“It’s Patrick Mahomes’ world, and we’re all just living in it—Canadians included.

On Saturday, the NFL revealed the top 10 best-selling jerseys in Canada for the 2023 calendar year, with the spotlight shining on the 28-year-old quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mahomes, who has a connection to Edmonton from his childhood when his father played for the Trappers minor league baseball club, endeared himself to Canadians by clinching his second Super Bowl victory in February. The 2022 NFL MVP ascended from the third spot in preseason jersey sales to claim the top position over the last four months. Throughout the season, he completed 380-of-568 pass attempts for 3,938 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in 15 games.

Since being chosen 10th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, Mahomes has started 95 career games for the Chiefs, amassing 28,179 yards, 218 touchdowns, and 63 interceptions. With five Pro Bowl appearances, two first-team All-Pro selections, and two league and Super Bowl MVP trophies, he has solidified his place among football’s elite.

Buffalo Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen and Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts each slipped one spot after topping preseason Canadian jersey sales. Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback Joe Burrow climbed from seventh to fourth, despite facing injuries during the 2023 season.

Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce and Philadelphia Eagles’ center Jason Kelce experienced a significant surge in merchandise sales, securing the fifth and ninth positions, respectively. Both players leaped from outside the top 10 in September, showcasing their popularity.

Dallas Cowboys’ edge rusher Micah Parsons, Seattle Seahawks’ receiver D.K. Metcalf, and Minnesota Vikings’ receiver Justin Jefferson shuffled their preseason rankings to secure the sixth, seventh, and eighth spots. San Francisco 49ers’ running back Christian McCaffrey entered the list at the number 10 spot.

Notably absent from the top 10 were the 2023 NFL MVP frontrunner, Baltimore Ravens’ quarterback Lamar Jackson, along with New York Jets’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers and offseason retiree Tom Brady.

In terms of team jersey sales, the Buffalo Bills (9-6) maintained their top position in Canada, vying for an AFC wildcard spot in the final two weeks of the regular season. The Kansas City Chiefs (9-6) and Philadelphia Eagles (11-4) retained their podium positions as they approached the playoffs.

The San Francisco 49ers (11-4) experienced the most significant rise from preseason, advancing from seventh to fourth, while the Pittsburgh Steelers (8-7) dropped from fifth to eighth. The Dallas Cowboys (10-5), Seattle Seahawks (8-7), Miami Dolphins (11-4), Green Bay Packers (7-8), and Las Vegas Raiders (7-8) also secured spots on the list.

The NFL playoffs are set to kick off in two weeks on Saturday, January 13, 2024, with Super Bowl LVIII scheduled for Sunday, February 11, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.”
