Cardi B has knocked pop princess Taylor Swift off the number one spot and made rap history in the process.
And in doing so, Taylor’s rival Nicki Minaj took to Twitter to congratulate the newcomer.
Back in 2015, the singers famously feuded when Taylor received an MTV VMA nomination for Bad Blood, and Nicki did not for Anaconda.

‘Congratulations to a fellow New Yawka’: Taylor’s rival Nicki Minaj, 34, took to Twitter to congratulate newcomer Cardi B on Billboard number one hit
‘Congratulations to a fellow NEW YAWKA on a RECORD BREAKING achievement. Bardi, this is the only thing that matters!!! Enjoy it @iamcardib,’ she wrote.
The tweet appeared to be in good taste, but the 34-year-old, who is notorious for feuding with fellow female celebs, could have a string attached to her words.
In 2015, Nicki was upset that she did not get a VMA nomination, and dropped hints that appeared to be aimed at Taylor.
Ulterior motives? While the tweet appeared to be in good taste, Nicki is notorious for feuding with fellow female celebs. Her words could have strings attached
‘When the “other” girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination,’ she said in one tweet, according to Billboard.
‘If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year,’ read another.
Taylor, who read between the lines, tweeted at the hip-hop artist: @NICKIMINAJ I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..’
Since Cardi’s rise to the top saw the Bad Blood singer’s song leave the number one spot, Nicki’s words could have had an ulterior motive.
Where it all began: In 2015, Nicki was upset that she did not get a VMA nomination, and dropped hints that appeared to be aimed at Taylor.
This comes after Cardi, 24, gave her own diss towards the former country singer.
While celebrating her top track at the Atlantic Records Headquarters in New York City, the Bronx-born beauty threw some subtle shade at Taylor, 27, thanking her fans before belting out the chorus of the singer’s revenge track with a cheeky grin.
Cardi sipped on pink champagne while thanking her die-hard fans and crew for getting her to number one in the clip caught by TMZ.
She then broke into song, cooing ‘Look what you made me do,’ while performing a small dance and wearing a saucy grin on her face.
Cardi’s top track marks the first time in 20 years a female rapper has held the number one rank without assistance, since Lauryn Hill’s Doo Wop (That Thing) almost two decades ago in 1998.
