Selena Gomez’s Linda Ronstadt’s biopic news and updates

Born in July 1946 (making her currently 77), Linda is a musician who is best known in the rock, country and Latin music space. She has 11 Grammys and is known for songs like ‘You’re No Good’ and ‘I Can’t Help It (If I’m Still In Love With You)’, while she also won a Tony Award in 1980 for her singing in the operetta Pirates of Penzance.

She was born in Arizona, but has Mexican heritage. She has two adopted children, Carlos and Mary, who she keeps out of the spotlight, and was diagnosed with a neurological disorder in 2019, after she was forced to stop singing in 2013 due to Parkinson’s disease. She now lives in San Francisco.

Selena Gomez first hinted she was involved in the project when she shared a photo of herself reading Ronstadt’s memoir, Simple Dreams, on her Instagram Story. Rolling Stone confirmed her casting shortly after. Selena then added on Stories, “I have no words to describe my heart for this project … years of hoping this dream would become my reality.”

So far, the rest of the cast is under wraps, but the film will be produced by the people behind the Johnny Cash biopic, Walk the Line, and Ronstadt’s 2019 documentary The Sound of My Voice.
