We already knew artificial intelligence technology and deepfakes were going to be the death of civil society as we know it, but the degenerates over at Kollias Music Inventions have officially gone too far. The things I’ve seen (and now you have to see) will stay with me to my grave.

As you can see in the videos below, someone used AI to superimpose the Mike Patton‘s face onto Britney Spears’ body in the music video for her 2003 hit “Toxic.” Not only that, but they then used the tech to approximate the Faith No More vocalist crooning on the track. Nevermind that I bet if we asked him nicely, he’d probably just sing the song at an upcoming show or something like that time he sang Portishead’s “Glory Box”…

Watching this uncanny valley shit gyrate in all sorts of stages of undress is sending all kinds of mized signals it’s a problem. Now, of course deepfake tech — at least the one they used for this video — leave a lot to be desired. Things glitch out from time to time so it breaks the illusion, which is a welcome downside to the video. If things looked too real, I might start having to question things about myself.

This is apparently the second time the channel used Patton for their sick machinations. The first version has him singing along to the opera classic “Habanera,” from Carmen. The digital version of Patton’s voice works particularly well here, since he did that whole Mondo Cane project where he sang Italian pop tunes.

So please, for the love of god. Stop with the AI shit. It already sucks that AI’s coming for my job, but this? This is too much.
