Klay Thompson reveals desire to retire with the Warriors

After winning four championships together, one would think both Steph Curry and Klay Thompson were best friends since day one – that is not the case.

They actually barely spoke to each other during their first two seasons together on the Warriors.

Klay Thompson was a guest on Podcast P with Paul George where he revealed the shocking origins of his relationship with Steph Curry.

“I don’t think me and Steph said a word the first year to be honest,” Thompson said.

“Steph only played like 20 games that year, I was riding the bench the first 30 games of the year. We didn’t really speak to each other that much. Like, I was so quiet.”

In fact, Klay Thompson and Steph Curry didn’t actually become close friends until their third season when they played in Team USA together.

The catalyst of it all was one of Steph Curry’s favorite games, golf.

“Our relationship didn’t really build until our third year when we played for that Team USA,” Thompson said.

“We finally hung out off the court, cause we had nothing else to do, and where were we? Like Canary Islands, we had nothing else to do so we played golf.

We finally got to know each other on the golf course. We played with Dominique Wilkins and Clyde Drexler.

That was so much fun playing with them… That’s the first time me and Steph actually talked to each other.”

Steph Curry and Klay Thompson seem inseparable at times together.

It looks like they’re completely in sync on the court and move together as one. If Klay Thompson’s story shows anything, it’s that all relationships take time to create.
