Deborra-Lee Furness has spent the months since her shock split from husband Hugh Jackman reflecting on her new single life.

The pair split in September last year, and last week, at the New York special screening of Force of Nature: The Dry 2, the Australian actress was optimistic.

‘[I learned] that I’m strong and resilient,’ the 68-year-old told People Magazine on Friday.

‘And that I – we are all a constant evolution,’ she added.

Deborra-Lee added that the couple’s two adopted children, son Connor and daughter Ava, are supportive of her return to acting and the big screen after a hiatus.

‘They’re very supportive of any pursuits. We’re all supportive of each other in any artistic pursuit that we do,’ she said.

In a recent interview with Yahoo Lifestyle, Deb revealed she has ‘big plans’ for her post-breakup career.

‘I’ve got a few [projects] up my sleeve, I’m working on a script with Rebecca Rigg, which I want to direct and act in,’ she said.

‘And who knows there might be a reprisal from the character I play [in Force of Nature]. Hey, maybe another sequel from a character I played many years ago in Shame,’ she added.

Hugh Jackman’s estranged wife Deborra-Lee Furness breaks silence

The Correlli actress ended her marriage with her husband Hugh Jackman last year.

The Australian actor, 55, and his former wife announced their shock split in September, 2023 after 27 years of marriage, telling fans they separated ‘to pursue our individual growth’.

‘We have been blessed to share almost three decades together in a wonderful, loving marriage,’ the couple said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

‘Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.

‘Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.

The former couple signed the statement as ‘Deb and Hugh Jackman,’ adding: ‘This is the sole statement either of us will make.’

The pair had tied the knot in 1996 after crossing paths on set of Correlli in 1995.

During the course of their marriage, they adopted two children: son Oscar, 23, and daughter Ava, 18.

Deb’s new project is the sequel to the local hit film The Dry, which scored an impressive $22 million at the Australian box office in 2021, was shot in Victoria in 2022.

The new film, called Force of Nature, is another murder mystery and like The Dry, it’s based on a bestselling novel from Jane Harper and will be again directed by Robert Connolly.

Deb has quite the gap in her resume, last appearing on screen in the mini series Hyde & Seek in 2016.

Before that, she worked on the film Blessed in 2009, as well doing some occasional voice work since then.
