Dan Orlovsky wants the Cowboys to move on from Dak Prescott to end age long Super Bowl drought

Dan Orlovsky wants the Cowboys to replace Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy as QB1 and HC respectively.

Whenever the Dallas Cowboys suffer any setback, it is always Dak Prescott who gets criticized the most. The QB has been leading the Cowboys for almost 8 years now but still, the age-old Super Bowl drought continues for ‘America’s Team’. After the team choked in the playoff last season, it is Dak Prescott who is on the receiving end once again.

Many analysts have scrutinized Prescott left, right, and center. His inability to give the much-needed momentum at the biggest stage is a major concern for everyone. The latest to join the bandwagon was Dan Orlovsky who claimed that the Cowboys need to get over Dak Prescott. He suggested the team trade Prescott alongside Mike McCarthy, the head coach.

Appearing on First Take, Orlovsky claimed the Cowboys should’ve moved past Prescott after the humiliating home playoff loss to the Packers.

The day after they got absolutely smoked at home in the playoff game [against] Green Bay. I would blow the whole thing up and start over again both at quarterback and at head coach in Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott.

Prescott, after the contract extension, will start his ninth year in the NFL. This year, he was supposed to receive a whopping $59.4 million. However, after the restructuring, Jerry Jones and management were successful in cutting down $4 million to save their salary cap structure. The quarterback will hence get an annual salary of $55.4 million this season.

The contract restructuring of the quarterback has already attracted a lot of opinions. Multiple people felt that this was an exit deal for Dak Prescott and the quarterback won’t be continuing for long after this deal. However, the Cowboys’ management has added the void years of Prescott’s contract in the deal which suggests that even if the quarterback wants to move on, the team will have an upper hand to hold the quarterback in the team.

Dak Prescott’s brother took a jibe at Jerry Jones

Amid all the contract-related things, Prescott’s brother Tad Prescott took a jibe at the veteran owner. Praising their arch-rivals Philadelphia Eagles, Prescott called out Cowboys’ management for underwhelming free agency moves.

So, if it wasn’t clear already, it is now. The Eagles have the best front office in the NFL. #howboutthemcowboys

The message was clear. After the playoff loss, the Cowboys team was in trouble on multiple fronts. Amid all of this, Dak Prescott was mostly the soft target. While many want Cowboys to move on from Dak Prescott, it seems Jerry Jones has utter faith in the QB and hence, he will be the starting quarterback for the Cowboys next season.
