Lance Bass holds up ‘Not Taylor Swift’ sign at football game ‘in case anyone was confused’

An easy mistake to make!

In case it was unclear, Lance Bass is not Taylor Swift. And he’s even got a sign to prove it.

Bass was one of many celebrities in attendance at SoFi Stadium for Monday night’s Chargers-Broncos game, meaning he eventually got some attention on the Jumbotron. To avoid any confusion in case fans were expecting a different pop icon who loves football, the NSYNC singer held up a handwritten sign that read “NOT TAYLOR SWIFT.”

“In case anyone was confused,” Bass captioned a video of the moment on his Instagram page. He also made reference to Swift in the tags, which read, “#LookWhatYouMadeMeDo #GoChargers! #NotTaylorSwift #MNF.”

Swift’s frequent attendance at games for the Kansas City Chiefs and her rumored romance with NFL star Travis Kelce have been all over the news for weeks. Their suspected relationship was even the subject of a recent Saturday Night Live sketch poking fun at the NFL’s obsession with her presence. Kelce, who has been vocal about the NFL “overdoing it” with coverage of Swift at the games, even made a surprise cameo for the punchline of the bit. Swift was also in the building, appearing later in the episode to introduce its musical guest, Ice Spice.

Though Swift and Kelce never popped up on screen together, they were photographed holding hands in New York City following the SNL after-party hours later.

Last month, NSYNC reunited at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards to present Swift with the Best Pop award for her 2022 single “Anti-Hero.” The visibly shocked singer had a hard time focusing on her big win while sharing the stage with the famed ’90s boy band, and admitted to having dolls of the group members while growing up. “You guys are pop personified,” she gushed, “so to receive this from your golden pop hands is really… it’s too much.”

Bass even gave her custom friendship bracelets, a nod to the bracelet exchanges that have been a constant throughout the Eras Tour — and a crucial detail in the beginning of her alleged romance with Kelce.

Kelce revealed that, after attending Swift’s July concert in Kansas City, he made her a friendship bracelet with his number on it but missed the chance to give it to her because she immediately left the venue. Kelce told the story on his podcast and explained that he later said he invited her to see him “rock the stage at Arrowhead [Stadium].”

The rest is history — just ask the Jumbotrons.
